Rocket League Dev Teases Basketball Mode from smrtsmith525's blog

Rocket League is planned to be updated with a brand new mode that switches out goalposts for basketball hoops, as outlined by a teaser image from developer Psyonix.
Writing about the studio’s official Twitter page, Psyonix asked its followers “who wants a teaser for something we’re releasing later in 2010?” Later it revealed a photo of a Cheap Rocket League Items court using a giant neon basketball hoop and backboard in the goal-end. It also showed the three-point line within the court, suggesting that players will get bonus points for scoring at distance.

A basketball mode would fundamentally change how Rocket League Items plays. The critically acclaimed indie title is renowned for its soccer-but-with-cars conceit, tasking players to attain goals by throttling their vehicles against a huge ball. Going by the picture, a basketball mode would require players to flight the ball in order to gain. Since airborne ball control is probably the trickiest skills to understand in Rocket League, this sort of mode might have been designed with core fans at heart.
As of February 26, Rocket League had reached 12 million players and 4 million copies sold across Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
